Steve House
Professional schutzhund training helper in the USA
Steve House has been involved with
German Shepherd dogs and Schutzhund training since approximately
1979. His involvement in German Shepherds began with
police service dog training. Shortly thereafter he became
interested in Schutzhund training and has spent the
past 20+ years learning and refining his skills. Steve
is also very involved with conformation training and
has shown dogs at the Sieger show in Germany.
Since his involvement in Schutzhund
as a training helper, he has worked countless trials
and breed surveys across the United States and has alos
done helper work in clubs in Germany. He has trained
dogs from Club levels, to National the World level competition.
Steve is specialized in the protection
phase of the Schutzhund sport. He is particularly skilled
at starting young dogs and problem solving in older
dogs. He improves and maximizes the potential of every
dog he works with.
His proudest accomplishments include:
A trial in 2006 where four handlers
he trained, two of which being novices, received protection
scores of 90, 91, 93 and 96;
Front end helper for the working
class females at the 2009 NASS
Handling Renaldo Zellergrund in
the 2005 German Sieger Show protection phase;
Being part of Tom Trainer and
Iwo’s journey to the 2004 FCI World Team, both
as a friend and as a helper;
Placing 2nd in Country Side Kennels
protection Tournament with Gary Hanrahan judging and
this with the only show dog out of the ten participants:
Uno vom Haus Babilon;
Finally, being able to work some
of the top dogs in the world including a German Sieger
and a Bunderssieger.
